Tucked away in a secluded corner of Amakhala Game Reserve, HillsNek Safari Camp is affectionately known as the “small” camp with the “greatest” heart. With a total of only four rooms, this family-operated lodge embodies personalized service, meticulous attention to detail, and genuine warmth in hospitality.
The Main Lodge
Fashioned from stone, thatch, and canvas, the lodge boasts an open layout that accommodates both indoor and outdoor dining as well as areas for unwinding. These inviting spaces converge around a stone-crafted swimming pool, seamlessly merging guests with the encompassing natural environment and the occasional passing wildlife.
SAFARI TENTS
HillsNek Safari Camp comprises four timeless canvas safari tents, situated on expansive wooden decks offering panoramic vistas. These tents are connected to the main lodge via elevated wooden walkways and come equipped with en-suite bathrooms, as well as an outdoor shower for added romance.

HillsNek Safari Camp offers a Family Tent set on expansive wrap around wooden decks with panoramic views. Surrounded by indigenous vegetation, the family tent is linked to the main lodge by raised wooden walkways and is complete with an en-suite bathroom and outdoor shower.

We took advantage of the residents’ special and were so pleased that we chose Hillsneck. The tents were lovely (maybe a fan for hot days though), the drives fantastic, the food great, and the elephants in the pool breathtaking. Thank you to the entire Hillsneck team for a wonderful break.

There are only 4 tents at this lodge and so it feels incredibly special and intimate. This set up makes you feel like you’re a bit of a celebrity with your own private chef and ranger! Chantelle made us feel like the most important guests from the start of the booking process and the staff on site just continue with that theme throughout.
